Packaging of Macedonian Halva with Chios Mastiha Flavour

Macedonian Halva with Chios Mastiha Flavour by Haitoglou Bros (est. 1924)

If you look for some extraordinary halva, my suggestion is clear – try Macedonian Halva with Chios Mastiha Flavour by Haitoglou Bros. But be ready for some bitter assault on all your taste receptors, because they will be hit hard! Nevertheless, it only takes few seconds to realize that primary shock is followed by the sweet wave of pure delight. And then you are ready to enjoy every melting piece of this divine halva. Believe me, it’s not easy to describe the multilayer taste of such treat, but it’s really something!

Apparently, Chios mastiha (which is a sap of the rare Mastic tree growing in Chios island, Greece) seems to be the key ingredient that makes the difference. It adds extra bitterness and some herbal aroma to the familiar taste of tahini halva, so your sweet tooth will be pleased in quite unusual way. Keeping in mind anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities of Chios mastiha, this dessert should be even more inviting 🙂

What else I may mention? In fact, the texture of that halva appeared somewhat sticky and more oily than ordinary, still it was good enough to be sliced. But the sophisticated packaging deserved only a praise – therefore if you need a small tasty gift from Greece, that’s it!

Hopefully any of you would enjoy Macedonian Halva with Chios Mastiha Flavour, like I did. So don’t miss your chance!
